Geocache Description:

An easy walk or short bicycle ride along a largely unused single track road (no public vehicle access). Car parking at N58*15.797 W005*02.373. DO NOT DRIVE FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD.

The 'Overwater' part of the cache name is pretty obvious! Although this is not the best location to view this majestic bridge, it certainly is impressive from this angle and somewhat poignant to be looking at it from the old ferry slipway.

The 'Underwater' part of the name comes from a somewhat more obscure and quite surprising part of this corner of Northwest Scotland. A unit of "X-craft" and "Chariot" miniature submarines trained in Lochs Glendhu and Glencoul (the inland lochs) from 1943.

Whilst being an easy walk this offers varied scenery with plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife along the way and close to the cache - including deer, seals, otters and birds (see previous logs). Due to the terrain also ideal for those with pushchairs or buggies and a good place to walk with small children also (taking appropriate care near obvious hazards).

For those keen to extend the trip we would recommend a wander along the north shore of Loch Glen Duh ('Glen Doo' - The Black/Dark Glen) for a great view of the bridge, the majestic mountain of Quinaig ('Coon-yag' - Milk Pail/Bucket) and Kylesku.
