Geocache Description:

A stroll round Wokingham to pick up clues.

N.B. Anyone part way through calculating where this cache is needs to know .... on 15 Jan 2015, I changed the coordinates of point 7, since the occupants moved their "home" (the question for G is different but the answer remains the same) and I also moved the cache itself about 5 metres west, for added security. This means the calculations have had to be changed and also the Hint.

For those who enjoyed Wandering 'wound Wokingham (WwW) 1 and 2; here's a very similar set of caches.

What is the cache?

This cache requires you to visit a number of locations in the central area of Wokingham (Berkshire).
Having solved a clue from each location you'll be able to determine/calculate the location of the final cache. The nature of the series of locations will become apparent very quickly!
The theme is a little different from WwW 1/2 - in this case all the buildings have a similar function (whose nature will become obvious once the first one is found!).

Where are the clues?

The route takes you from one end of the town to the other - but never out into the suburbs..... NB, it's not a circular route.
The published coordinates of the cache relate to the place where the first question is to be answered and you could park there quite easily.
The route between clues depends on exactly which streets you take but isn't critical and there's no intentional back tracking in the order I've chosen. I recommend at least roughly following the order given below.
As with the original WwW, the intermediary points need NOT be tackled in the order given below, because they do not depend upon the one before.

How far is it?

The total distance is about 1.75 miles - certainly less than an hour's walking.... I did the route and back to the start and my GPS said 3 miles total.

What's the going like?

The terrain is of course urban, so it's plain easy walking - and Wokingham centre doesn't have any hills.
But a point to remember - buildings tend to spoil reception sometimes - and of course young children need supervising.

Can I have a hint?

The information you need to find about one of the locations is itself a help in finding them.
I haven't bothered with the normal "Additional Hints" section this time - there's just a hint to the final cache.
But the difficulty rating is 'pretty easy' - you should find all this a doddle.

So off we go:

Answer

1

N51 24.925
W 000 49.586

A = the hour for Bowls

2

N51 24.754
W 000 49.778

B = the number of vertical sections in the big window

3

N51 24.677
W 000 49.972

C = the hour of evening worship

4

N51 24.487
W 000 49.685

D = the first digit of the Presbytery's house number

5

N51 24.555
W 000 49.902

E= the number of letters in the last word of the motto

6

N51 24.581
W 000 49.901

F = the number of letters in the last word on the wooden board

7

N51 24.719
W 000 50.365

G = the number of long windows on the first floor of the building

8

N51 24.851
W 000 50.629

H = the number of keyholes in the tiny West door

9

N51 24.740
W 000 50.208

I = the number of benches outside the front door

Now to determine the final location, you need to do these calculations:

a=A-B
b=E
c=B+I (letter)
d=A
e=G*2
f=F
g=C-D
h=H
i=C
j=E-G

and the 'cache' is at N51 ab.cde W000 fg.hij

The final cache is a magnetic container containing only a log - NO pencil. Please pack away the log carefully. It is now a little higher off the ground and may need a little stretch to reach it.
Of course getting to the intermediary places is pretty easy (apart from negotiating Wokingham's traffic!)
