MOVIE
"Transformers" (2007), directed by Michael Bay, and starring Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel.

SCENE
Sam Witwicky, Mikaela Banes, and the Autobots are on the run from Agent Simmons. They hide under a bridge, get exposed, and then Bumbleebee is taken down by the Section 7 agents. Poor Bumblebee.

© 2007, DreamWorks SKG. Note that picture #003 was reversed by the editors. Bumblebee was actually driving southbound on the west side of the L.A. River between the E. César E. Chávez Avenue Bridge and Highway 101.

BEHIND-THE-SCENES
We were originally going to film this scene under the E. Olympic Boulevard Bridge, but the water levels that far downriver were just too high at the time, so we switched to the E. César E. Chávez Avenue Bridge. In addition to obtaining proper permissions from the Army Corps of Engineers (they originally built the L.A. River concrete channel after the floods of 1938), we also had to get permits from the city of Los Angeles and the FAA, make arrangements with all the adjacent businesses, and conduct a tremendous clean-up of the river bottom in order to make it as safe as possible for the film crew. After several weeks of preparation, we filmed on the nights of 14-15 September 2006.

CACHE
The cache is a small magnetic container that's somewhere close to Mission Road. It is completely accessible from the public sidewalks; you do not need to go into traffic. Some very small items might be able to fit inside the cache for trade. Have fun!

By the way, for safety reasons, the cache is not located on the bridge itself, so, after you've found it, be sure to also visit the following approximate coordinates for the best view of the filming location: +34° 3' 17.88", -118° 13' 38.58" (34.054967, -118.227383). Do not go down into the Los Angeles River! You will be arrested and cited by LAPD.
