This area was part of Ashwood Haye, a part of the Royal Forest of Kinver. Parts of the lands were held by Richard Webb in 1857 who built Ashfield House. By 1911 the Stuart family held all the fields and in 1946 the area passed into the hands of Charles Parkhouse and was eventually sold to Brierley Hill Urban District Council who decided to use it as a recreation area in memory of King George V.
Part of the park is now an independent charity and registered as a King George Field and forms part of the National memorial, which specifies that the land is to be preserved for public recreation. The Fields were opened in 1948 with entrance gates, bandstand, bowling green, tennis courts and football fields.
At the park’s formal entrance opposite Barnett Lane, ornate gates, displaying the Heraldic Panels inform the public of the royal connection. The right panel depicts a unicorn and the left hand side a lion.
This park is not open 24/7. The park is closed and gates are locked in the evening (currently 9pm at the date of this listing).
Cache container is only about half the size of a 35mm film container.
Contains log, sorry no room for swaps and you will need to byop please.

Car parking is available near to the cache and the location has been moved about 50m from original position.
You will need to sign the logbook to claim a find on this cache.
