Tranquility Pond is back!

After our first cache attempt at this location was muggled, Tranquility Pond is back from the dead and has been transformed into a multi-cache! We were determined to make this location work, but since the area is overrun with muggles we didn't think another hide directly there was going to last much longer than the original. The cache container is no longer a PVC style tube. We’ll leave it up to you to figure out what it is now. Cache coordinates will take you to the original location. You'll need to gather the following for use on the 2nd leg of the cache:

- Number of planks on a Tranquility Pond park bench
- Number of sides to the wooden structure that is close by
- Number of benches at the immediate sight INCLUDING what is in the wooden structure above
- Number of logs placed in the ground around the sites small garden

Gather the information above and take a seat on one of the benches that are usually in the shade. Take at least a moment and enjoy the calming trickle of the water. Close your eyes if you must in order to block out the distractions, but just take a moment.

Coordinates to the second location will use the information on the memorial placard at Tranquility Pond. We thought it appropriate pay due respect to (name suppressed heree due to puzzle) and her loved ones for providing this small pocket of peace. For the North coordinates you will use the dates on the placard. The North coords are as follows:

N 32° 5 (sum of day born) . (sum of day died) (month born * 2 + month died) (last digit of year born)

To figure the West coords, decipher the name on the placard using the following key:

(I can’t guarantee this lines up correctly on-line, but you should get the idea)
A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M…..
0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0, 1, 2, …..

Where:

& = (sum of first name) / ( sum of last name)
@ = [(sum of middle name) + (sum of last name)] / (first letter of first name)
# = [(number of letters in middle name) * W] + V
$ = Value for the first letter of the last name
% = The average number of letters in each of this person’s name

Make your way to the 2nd location. It is another great photo opp yet it is too commonly visit by muggles to have a cache placed there. Kids seem to love this location and I’m sure you’ll see why. Turn around and there will be a green sign. Note the only digit on the sign. To figure coordinates to the final location, reference the information you gathered previously. DO NOT USE THE PREVIOUS LETTER/NUMBER KEY TO DECIPHER THESE COORDINATES. The final resting place for the cache is located at:

A = Number of planks on a Tranquility Pond bench
B = Number of sides on the wooden structure that should have been obvious
C = Number of benches at the first sight INCLUDING what was in the wooden structure above

F = A – D
G = F + C
H = A – B
I = (D * F)/ E
J = (E * C)/B
? = The only digit on the green sign

Please take care when retrieving the cache. The cache has been rated a difficulty of 3 as you do have to work through the little puzzle. The terrain is rated a 3 not because it is all that difficult, but it’s not something you’d have a small child do alone. Please take care in re-placing the cache for the next person. The cache has been stocked with a nice variety of swag and we hope to keep it that way. Please let us know if it runs low and we’ll come out and restock it so that everyone can enjoy finding it. Since this is basically an all new cache, First-to-Find receives a $10 iTunes gift card. The updated cache is also the starting point for the Atlanta Braves Hat travel bug to make its way east.

Tranquility pond is one of our first caches, and is meant to be a relaxing stop and grab. This location is one of our favorites to take pictures at annually. sit and enjoy the sights and sounds on a nice shady bench. The original contents of this cache include one of our first travel bugs (Racin' Blues Traveler), 2 gold dollars, some matchbox cars, pencils, tatoos, sun glasses, and a bunch of other nick nacks. Please be sure to re-hide the cache as good or better as this is a muggle rich area.
