Geocache Description:

Lilacs

We ran across wild lilacs growing out over the trail in this King County natural area called Henry's Ridge. The aroma from the blooms was so amazing I had to place a cache. I am not sure how much longer the blooms will be around this year, but they are sure to be back again.

Since this is a King County Natural area, it closes at dusk.

This an entrance to a nice looking bike trail system in a heavily forested area. This is pretty much a park and grab, but you might want wander around and explore the trails.

More information about these plants from Prying Pandora:

I know these plants well, having made the mistake of planting one in my yard. They are Buddleia davidii, also known as Butterfly Bush and Summer Lilac. The flower heads are beautiful and they smell wonderful, but they are also highly invasive and on King County's Noxious Weed List. http://www.kingcounty.gov/environment/animalsAndPlants/noxious-weeds/weed-identification/butterfly-bush.aspx Ours grew from a cutting in a 2" pot to 10' high and wide in only a few years. It sprouted back immediately after being cut to the ground and Plaidguy finally had to dig it up - no small task because it had a huge rootball to support all that growth above ground.
