Red-winged Blackbird.
The families of blackbirds are the most abundant bird types on the continent. These birds form flocks where one can see thousands of different types of mixed blackbirds as they gather in the Spring and Fall migrations.

The Red-winged Blackbird is named after the mainly black adult male's distinctive red shoulder patches, which are visible when the bird is flying or displaying. Seeds and insects make up the bulk of the Red-winged Blackbird's diet.
