Geocache Description:

Redamo is a good anchorage in the Archipelago sea. It is well sheltered from every wind. It is frequently used by sailing and motor boats. It also offers some good landing places and some scenic views.

The little island west of the middle passage and the island northwest (Borgarlot) are private. They belong to NJK (Nyländska jaktklubben, a sailing club from Helsinki). The eastern part of the island west of the eastern passage is also private.

There are three passages in:

The eastern with depth at least 2.1 meters is an easy one. Just stay in the middle.

In the middle passage there is a submerged rock in the northeastern part of the channel between the two little islands (see Karttapaikka’s satellite photo). On the sea chart it looks like there is no cannel at all, the two islands have been drawn together and there is a submerged rock symbol (cross) between (NOTE: new charts are better). In reality the channel is about 50 meters wide and about 5 meters deep. Stay in the middle.

Then there is the western passage. The depth is about 10 meters until the narrowest part north of the little islands where the depth is 1.9-3 meters.

The depth of the bay is 5-7 meters, ideal for anchoring. Good holding ground.

All of the previous facts are “as per my best knowledge”, “as per my depth sounder” and local knowledge. No garanties are given. Although the site is much used by boats remember:

All navigation at your own risk! Be careful, navigate slowly, keep a good lookout!
