More Kayak Caching on the Blackwater River
This cache
is placed on the bank of the Blackwater River in
the
Blackwater
State Forest with a permit from the State Forest
Service.
The Forest
Service permit prohibits any kind of dangerous
material
including
but not limited to matches, lighters, fireworks,
etc
from being
placed in caches. Please respect these rules
when
swapping things from Blackwater caches.
Together
with the Kayaker Kache series and some
Earth
Caches in the Blackwater
State Park,
this will
make the 9 plus mile canoe or kayak trip more
fun.
Park one
vehicle at Deaton Bridge in the Blackwater State Park,
and take
another with your kayaks around to the Bryant Bridge
on the
east. Exit at the Deaton Bridge on the west.
It takes
approximately 3 hours of paddling to get from bridge to
bridge.
Plan
on a trip of at least 5 hours if you stop for all the
caches.
There is an
entrance fee of $4 (bring 4 $1 bills, no change is
available)
per vehicle
to use the Blackwater State Park which you will be
passing
through and
exiting from. There is currently no charge
to
park at Bryant Bridge.
NOTE TO
VISITORS: There are several places
nearby
where
canoes and kayaks can be
rented,
and some of the
rental places have drop off
service.

information.
