As part of the development of the Whareroa Farm as a recreation reserve DOC are continuing to develop a number of walking, mountain biking, and horse treking tracks.
Depending on your choice of transport there are a number of different routes you can take from the car park at Mackays Crossing to this cache, which is placed where three of these newly developed tracks converge at the top off the farm, and additionally all join with Campbell's Mill Road. Hence you additionally have another choice of reaching the cache using Campbell's Mill Road which is an easy 2.5km walk, cycle, or horse ride from the the Maungakotukutuku Road end.
The Whareroa farm tracks are;
Uphill Mountain Bike Track: Still under construction at this time but will provide an easy gradient tramping and moutain bike track.
Horse Track: A shorter distance but steeper gradient track for horse riding and tramping.
Downhill Mountain Bike Track: Mountain bikes only, a steeper descent.

This can be a rather busy spot muggle wise so the cache is placed a short distance off the road to avoid any curious interest in your activities to find it.
