Geocache Description:

This is my first hide, having been encouraged by fellow cachers at the “Summer Coventry Cachers Collaboration”. It is a 1Ltr cliplock container covered in black tape. I have put some nice goodies in the cache including a “First to Find”, un-activated Micro Travel Tag. Please re-hide carefully as I will probably cry if it goes missing.

Weston-In-Arden is one of the seven Villages/Hamlets that make up the village of Bulkington. The others are Bulkington, Barnacle, Bramcote, Marston Jabbett, Ryton, and Wolvershill. In the Doomsday book Weston-In-Arden was recorded as Westone.
The Weston Hall Hotel is located in Weston-In-Arden and was the manor house for Bulkington. It has a long and interesting history. The earliest records tell us that Roger de Waterville was the Lord of the Manor of Bulkington in 1143. In 1920 the manor and estate was bought by Lt. Col. F. B. Leyland who was the last private owner. During World War II the Hall was used as a local base for the Home Guard. Following the death of Lt. Col. Leyland in 1958, Weston Hall fell into decline until it became a hotel. With its seven acres it is presently owned by Best Western Hotels.
Careful parking is possible in Mill Lane and the route to the cache is along a fairly reasonable footpath with no sties and just a kissing gate to navigate at the start. It is a walk I take my grand kids on fairly regularly as they love to watch the pendolinos rushing along the track. It should be an easy find.
