Geocache Description:

Hiking and climbing up Cima Alta del Rio Bianco

Cima Alta del Rio Bianco

This cache leads you up on top of the impressing Cima Alta del Rio Bianco / Hohe Weissenbachspitze
(2257m). First you have to do a hike of approximately 3 hours, then you have to be prepared to climb. There is no hiking path to the top but only rocks for climbing awaiting you ...

You have to be able to climb in grade II-III and you must not be afraid of height to reach the top. Without climbing gear you can get as far as 100 meters below the summit, but the last part is the most difficult one.

If you prefer longer and more difficult climbing, there are also other possibilities to get to the top.
You can make a day trip to the summit or spend a night at one of the numerous huts and bivacs and also explore some other mountains in the region.

We took the following circle route that I can recommend as a very beautiful one:

Parking lot - Rifugio Brunner - Bivacco Gorizia - Forca del Rio Bianco - Cima Alta del Rio Bianco - Forca del Rio Bianco - Cime Piccole del Rio Bianco - Forca del Vallone - Rifugio Corsi - Parking Lot

If you want to cross the Cime Piccole del Rio Bianco you might need a Via Ferrata equipment if you do not feel safe without one on ladders and you definitely need a flashlight since the sentiero leads through a tunnel.

The cache is an ice cream box and the hiding place is easy. To be on the safe side you can use the spoiler.

The cache contains a log book but please bring a pen.

I have put a self made bluemchen inside for the first finder. :o)
