Concrete Block Maze Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

905kaa: My 4WD's engine was wrecked recently leaving me with no feasible access in the near future to any of my caches. Too expensive to get a replacement engine for the second time in six months!! :(

Regretably, I am therefore having to archive all of my Dubai / UAE based caches in accordance with the Geocaching guidelines.

I do hope you have enjoyed visiting them over the past few months and that they have taken people to the various fascinating places where they are placed. Those that remain will still be there so anyone else is free to take them over if they choose or to retrieve any travelling items that may be in them.

Regards

Danny

Geocache Description:

Close to the city, this cache is hidden amongst a maze of large concrete lampost bases that firm a surprisingly effective maze especially for kids under supervision. Its a traditional cache and only the second I have placed - the other is on an island off the northern coast of Ireland.

You will probably need a 4x4 to drive to this cache but could also park a car at the large scaffolding hoarding on Al Quadra Road and walk in.

I think there are two possible approaches - one from Al Quadra Road after passing Dubai Autodrome and Motor City as you head away from the Dubai. Turn right onto the desert looking for signs to Dubai Golf City sales centre. This is before the Cairo Township development. A large concrete blockhouse type structure is one aiming point but follow your GPS directions. Another approach is from ther Dubai By Pass Road - ake the first dusty trackj through the fence after the Al Quadra Road junction and find the on-site road ways passing several abandoned construction site offices.

Do keep an eye out for wood with nails sticking out. There are some deep excavations around so keep an eye on kids.

I have also seen small lizards scurrying through the area where the cache is and one very surprising and beautiful large animal = keep your eyes peeled especially as evening approaches.

The sand hills which can be seen to the West of the location appear to have a pack of dogs turned wild - I counted at least five who were barking at me as I approached them in my vehicle.
