A mile of vineyards separates Mines Road from North Mines Road in Livermore. North Mines is a typical suburban thoroughfare, while Mines Road proper takes the adventurous driver or cyclist on a fascinating tour through isolated wilderness in the San Antonio Valley. There was a proposal years ago to connect the two Mines Roads, but it never went anywhere. Instead we got a very nice bicycle and running trail that connects the neighborhoods built in the former vineyards with points south and west.
If you drive to the site, you'll need to park in the neighborhood to the northeast of the hide. (Please use a parking bay.) The trail goes all the way back to Charlotte Way, so you could also park in the lot at Bruno Canziani Park. No parking is allowed on Tesla Road, to the south of the hide.
You can reach this cache without climbing. There is no need to do anything dangerous.
