This cache needs too much attention while searching for it because the spot is full of muggles around. To have long lasting cache, I will try to give all the necessary information about it.
Please, make use of the spoiler photo and enjoy visiting this historical place. The top of the tower has one of the best 360 deg istanbul view.
You can find historical facts about the tower from various web sites. What I want to point out about this tower is that Hezarfen Ahmet Çelebi flew as an early aviator using artificial wings for gliding from this tower over the Bosphorus to the slopes of Üsküdar on the Anatolian side, nearly six kilometres away.
The tower witnessed a family tragedy of a famous turkish poet. Ümit Yasar Oguzcan, one of the well-known and leading poets of Turkey, used to write many poems concerning death. Death was his obsession, most of his poetry were answering the questions of "How to die best" ," how a man commit a suicide", "best ways of death", etc. He did 24 commit suicide attempts and failed all.
And one day, his son, known for his cheerfulness and filled with joy of life, jumped to death from Galata tower. A piece of paper was found in vedat's palm after he fell, and there was a note inscribed on the paper addressing his father "Dad, so dies a man".
after this, his father writes a very emotional poem for his son, named "Galata Tower". I searched for an English version of the Poem but couldn't find. I will post it one day if I find.
