Geocache Description:

South of Crestview just off hwy 85

This is an EASY access cache.  Just a short walk from Hwy. 85.  Park near 3 power transformers.  You will be walking in the woods down a road closed to motorized traffic.

Did you know the US government built a whiskey still near Crestview, Fl in the 1920's or 1930's...

My dad was telling me about this place.  Part of it still remains to this day.  It was never completed and has been abandon for many years.  The original plan was for the still to draw the cold clear water from nearby Turkey Hen creek for the whiskey vats.  They were going to make the brew south of Crestview and distribute it from Shalimar by boat.  The warehouse was built in Shalimar, near what is now the Courthouse.  Dad remembers when there were still wooden barrels for the brew.  All of the wood has long since rotted away, but the brick and cement are still there for you to view and enjoy.  Go Searching for this Cache and explore the ruins.  Please hide the cache in the same location for the next seeker and enjoy this bit of Okaloosa County history.
