The Kenn Hangings 8th September 1830 were the last hangings to take place where the crime was committed in the united kingdom.
John Rowley 30yrs, Richard Clarke 19yrs, William Wall 35yrs were all sentanced to death for setting fire to three wheat mows destroying around 50 bushels of wheat.
At the time it seems that Kenn was the scene of a large number of crimes, not committed by the starving, but those in search of an easier life. Walls Cider farm at the bottem of Duck Lane was frequented by the people commiting the crimes.
The hanging field is the field directly behind where the cache is hidden.
