Duranta la prima guerra mondiale la zona del Tonale si trovava sul confine austro-ungarico/italiano. Tra queste montagne è possibile ancor oggi percorrere sentieri costruiti per raggiungere fortini e anche una vera e propria cittadella, ora chiamata città morta, una cittadella austriaca a 2600 metri di altitudine. Während des Ersten Weltkrieges wurde das Gebiet an der Grenze des Tonale Österreicher-Hungarisch/Italienisch entfernt. During the First World War the Tonale area was located on the the Austrian-Hungarian/Italian border. Between these mountains you can still follow paths built to reach the forts and even a real town, now called the dead city, a town built by austrian, 2600 meters above sea level.
