Be prepared for a fairly long hike...this is not for the casual
cacher! You will travel approximately 2 miles from the parking area
to reach the cache location. The terrain varies from flat,
well-packed trail to challenging hillclimbs over loose sandy soil
and small rocks. There is also some light bushwhacking involved. Be
careful using the small footbridge not far from the parking lot,
the wood is somewhat rotted in places and may not hold much
weight.
I highly recommend bringing water and a snack. Let someone know
where you're headed, or bring a cell phone in case of emergency.
Take your time! Physical and mental fatigue will be a challenge; it
is very easy to twist an ankle on some of the rocky descents. Wear
bright colors! I noticed plenty of evidence of hunting activity
along the way, better to be safe than sorry.
While you're in the area, you may want to grab GCHEY6 and GCHPC9, if you haven't already.
Expect to spend a few hours out in the field. Don't forget your
camera!
