Hello My Name Is: Mathman Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

bigjim60: Went to check on this one and found that "some limbing" means that all of the branches were pruned off up to about 6 feet. Mathman has been out of the game for a while now. Time for this one to go.

Geocache Description:

Geocachers are the nicest people. I've had the pleasure of meeting
many cachers, on the trail, on line, at events ... So I thought it
would be fun to place a series of caches based on some of the
cachers I've met since I started playing this game.

Mathman is another cacher that I knew long before I started caching. I first met Mathman through Scouting. One of the first opportunities I had to get to know him was when I was volunteering at Camp Tesomas as Camp Commisioner. One of my jobs was to provide the adults in camp with activities to keep them occupied. One of the activities was a horseshoe contest, which Mathman and his partner won. They had been collecting beads for other activites all week, so Mathman came up to me and told me "We don't want any plaques or trophies or anything, we just want beads." So I got two rolls of toilet paper, covered them with aluminum foil, and strung a rope through each of them. At the awards campfire at the end of the week, I presented them with their humungous "beads" for winning the horseshoe tournament.

Once I started caching, I asked to help with our Council's "Get in the Game" program, which introduced geocaching into the scouting program. Mathman was the lead volunteer for the program, and he welcomed my assistance. He also has provided me with hours of caching adventures from his multitude of hides, especially the ones in "Mathman Swamp." It was because of these hides, that I wanted to hide this cache in the middle of a swamp, but I resisted that urge. Instead you will find it along a walking trail in the Junction City Park. I see that they are building a new ball field nearby, but I think this cache is safely out of range, except for an occasional home run ball.

Logging Etiquette: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of planning to place their caches. As a result, they'd like to hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the hide, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required. Single word, acronym, or emoticon logs may be easier when you have a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log.

Congratulations to Mathman for the FTF and his 2600th find. Please include your favorite Mathman story in your log.
