Geocache Description:

A Traditional for you to find on your way up to our Rawhiti Cave Earth Cache (GC33KME). It is approximately a 20 minute walk from the car park to the cache - since the flooding of 2011, parts of the track that were washed away are a bit rugged in parts, so care will be needed, but it is not an especially difficult walk to this point. NO DOGS ALLOWED, due to the fact that this is private farm land.

After crossing the dry river bed, the track continues alongside the river bed, until you come to a green warning sign and a double set of orange markers pointing to the right up the hill to the cave. Instead of turning right here, continue straight on, to the left of the green warning sign, along the right hand edge of the dry river bed for about 30 metres until you come to a large rock. The cache should not be too hard to find, although it is quite well camouflaged.

In case you are attempting this cache without going on up the hill to Rawhiti Cave, here are the driving directions: from Takaka, drive east towards Pohara Beach. At Motupipi turn right into Glenview Road and then left into Packard Road. Rawhiti Cave is signposted from near the end of Packard Road on the left, through private farm land, along a farm track, through a couple of gates to an informal car park. Please ensure you leave gates exactly as you found them.

Please ensure that you replace the container exactly as you found it so that is hidden from view and wedged in place. The reason for the cache name should become apparent eventually....
