Geocache Description:

This one is barely above a PNG. Overgrown grass and a bit of brush is the only real obstacle here.

This was the location of David Rahn Elementary School until its destruction by fire on Feb. 12th 2004. Firefighters from 50 departments responded to what became a 9 alarm blaze. This day being a school day, teachers and staff had a full building of 300 children to evacuate. They did this safely with no injuries to the kids.

Ironically even though this was the fourth school building fire in Mt. Morris, this one is the one blamed for fundamentally altering the community's identity. Even today people still make comments about the loss of this school. The weblink added here is to the fire department about the fire. The pictures and professional fire descriptions there tell a pretty chilling story of what might had been if the school staff had not done such an exemplary job of evacuating the building.

The trees planted here were for science education for the students. Each tree had a small plaque naming what kind of tree it was.

The cache is digital camo wrapped prescription container. It has room for some small trade items like stickers or patches. Bring your own writing utensil. This cache is a spawned cache from one Halemeister placed in Oregon.

Congrats to LazyDawg for the FTF!!!
