That's right! This event will be held on the rim of the Grand
Canyon!
A group of us from all over the U.S. will be visiting the Grand
Canyon and wanted to host an event so that we can meet other
geocachers while in the area. If you're on vacation or sightseeing
in arizonia and get a chance please do come out and join us.
Who: Why YOU, of course...whether you have one
cache find or a thousand cache finds, please feel free to come join
us for a small meet and greet.
When: Thursday, October 6th, 2011
5:30 PM - 6:00 PM
Where: Follow the needle on your GPSr! Posted
coordinates are where we'll be. Look for a fellow in a New York
Yankees ballcap with a logbook in his hand! ![](http://www.geocaching.com/images/icons/icon_smile_tongue.gif)
Why: To talk geocaching, and trade travel
bugs and geocoins. Those who wish to may also do some geocaching
before or after the event.
Located in the Grand Canyon National Park along the South Rim at
one of the best spots for watching and photographing the canyon at
sunrise or sunset. In this case sunset should be at 6:07 PM local
time. Arrive early to talk geocaching and stay for the gorgeous
sunset.
The coordinates will take you to a precise location at a popular
overlook along the South Rim Road and Rim Trail. Access is from the
Bright Angel trailhead area where you can catch the shuttle that
runs every 10-15 minutes, or hike the Rim Trail.
Please also note that this event will be taking place rain, snow
or shine! Do keep this page watchlisted for further updates or
announcements.
Extra things to keep in mind:
- If you pick up a Travel Bug or trackable coin at
one of the events, make sure you log it out so it doesn't show up
in the events list. If a trackable sits as being listed in the
event for a couple of months, the cache owner is the one that gets
the e-mail from the TB owner(s).
- Each person attending will be responsible for any costs
incurred for visiting the park.
