It's that time of the year again. The evil geo-spook sisters are planning the 2nd Annual Halloween Meet and Greet. If you attended last year, you will know the geo-trail. If not, just check the coords. Note the spooky harvest moon photo from Barnfun's front porch---yes, it is that spooky out there!
This year, we are adding a twist...The Evil Genius Cache Contest! Each participant must put together a complete cache, ready to hide! The cache size must be a small or larger (no nanos or micros, please). The definition of a complete cache is (1) container, (2) log, (3) any appropriate swag that will fit.
There will be two categories. The first is Most Devilish Cache! These caches will be the hardest to identify as a cache, have the most diabolical containers, just generally evil! The second category is Most Creative Cache! These caches include the best use of a container, best decorated and/or camoed, thinking outside the box. All caches must be new - never hidden caches.
You may enter a separate cache in both categories or just enter a cache in one...it is totally up to you. Team entries are welcome, but there will be only one prize awarded if your team is a winner...you will just have to fight over the prize! The winners will be chosen by all geocachers attending the event. A prize for the first three places in each category will be given.
Here's the next twist...at the conclusion of the awards ceremony, caches will be drawn for as door prizes. So, if you submitted a cache for judging, you will definitely go home with a ready-to-go cache. Just don't be scared...it probably won't be the one your brought! If you submit a cache in both categories, you will draw for two door prizes! Sound like fun? We hope so!!! mmmwwwwaaaaahaaaaahaaaa!
If you choose not to enter the contest, please come anyway for the food, fellowship, and to help pick the winners. We will have Trick or Treat bags of goodies for all, so you will not go home empty-handed. (P.S. This will give you a good opportunity to see the caches that you will be hunting in the coming weeks!!!)
We hope you can scare up enough time to come join us on Oct. 30, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. We are looking forward to swapping spooky geocaching stories with old and new cachers. Don't forget to bring your geocoins and TB's to discover and swap. Please post a note if you plan to attend with the number in your party so we can have the crypt stocked and ready for you all!
