Geocache Description:

I have added three caches to this beautiful reserve. The more time I spend in the reserve, the more I discover. This cache is a follow on from FE’s “Blue Swallow” cache.

Should you be energetic enough to walk the round trip from the reserve entrance to this cache and back, the route will take you all along the perimeter of the reserve where you can collect eight caches in total.
The caches in order from starting at the gate entrance are: Buttocks Box, A Big Tree Tiny Ruin, Monoliths and Calendars, Blue Swallow, Blue Swallow Southern Boundary, Right Road North, P51B and lastly Old Miners Dwelling.
Please stay in the reserve by not entering any of the plantations on the southern and western boundary. The route is well marked as there are several Komati land overnight hikes which lead hikers through the Blue Swallow Reserve.
The round route is not difficult terrain, but does require a bit of planning as it is 12km long. Make sure you have sufficient water, sunscreen in summer, and a light rain jacket with you (weather is extremely changeable). There is cell phone coverage throughout the reserve. It is advisable to start early and make use of the cool morning. If you keep a fair pace, the entire route is manageable in three to four hours.
The cache is hidden in a group of clearly defined rocky outcrops. The container is a 15 cm cylindrical tube. The cache is safe from fire and 3m off the marked path. Cache contains a log sheet and pencil.
