Secret Passage Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Reviewer Who: This note is to inform you that your cache is located in Keith Mione Community Park & Sports Complex which is managed by the Mundelein Park District.

The Mundelein Park district is currently working on implementing a policy for placing geocaches in their managed properties. In the meantime, they have asked that no new geocaches are published and that all existing caches be removed.

Unfortunately, this means that I have to archive your cache listing and that you need to visit the cache site and retrieve your container.

Once their policy is put into place, you will likely be able to find it at the Park District’s website, located at http://www.mundeleinparks.org/

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me, or the park district at the website above.

Thanks,
Edward Rooney

Geocache Description:

Out for a walk in this park with my son and his girlfriend this fall and we found this cool little "secret" passage. I used to love finding places like this when I was a kid growing up in California. Nice to know they exist in IL, too.

When we first found this place I was in my achilles boot so I couldn't get to the location I wanted to explore more in depth. I had my son do some off-road work and take a couple of GPS readings then I waited to go back. I revisited a month ago but still hadn't healed enough to get "off road". Today, Christmas day, seemed like the perfect day to go back and place this new cache! Please let me know if the coords need adjusting. I took multiple readings on multiple visits... but the tree cover does make the GPSr jump around. Merry Christmas to my geocaching friends, although this won't publish till later in the week. Maybe I should say Happy New Year! Sorry no dogs allowed in the park. Park closes at dusk. Please do not hunt this after hours. Local LEOs tend to patrol this area pretty closely.
