It Could Save Your Life Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Z_Malloc: I am going to archive this one.

It seems like the weather and people have done this cache in. From bees to it drifting down the beach, it seems like it lasted longer than I thought it would.

Geocache Description:

This area of South Padre Island is in need of more geocaches out on the beaches to help draw cachers out here. While there is a lot of sand out here, there are some nifty places to see. This is one such place. When I saw this nifty artifact sitting on the beach I knew it needed a cache.

This geocache is located along a 20 or so mile strip of beach located just to the north of the city of South Padre Island, Texas.  I came out here as part of a trip and I wanted to get a particular geocache that was at the northern most accessible point on the beaches from town.  During the drive I spied several cool sites that were just begging to have a geocache located there.

The best way to get here is to enter through Beach Access gate #5 and pay the entry charge.  If you pick up some trash (which is super easy out there) you can get four of your eight dollar entry fee back.  The road is paved through gate #5 out to the hard packed sand which is where you want to be.  If you have a true four wheel drive vehicle you can try your luck at Access gate #6 which is free but to get to the hard packed sand you have to go through some super deep sand.  To place this cache I drove all the way out here along the water in a 2WD truck and had no sand problems.  Might want to keep an eye on the tides too.  Here is a link to the tide charts.
