Geocache Description:

A Big, Easy cache

THE BIG EASY
The cache title is a nickname for the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, (NOLA), founded May 7, 1718, and named for Phillipe d’Orleans, a Regent of France. The coordinates of the city are N 29 57 .883 and W 90 04.233. It was a colony of France, then Spain, then France again before being sold to the United States in 1803 as part of the Louisiana Purchase.
How the city came by this nickname is unclear. The predominant thought seems to be that it references a slow, gentle and easy-going lifestyle. Another is that the phrase was coined by musicians a century or so ago to convey the ease with which employment could be found because of the large number of live music venues.
The city continues to be known for its live music, excellent food and a rich variety of architectural styles. More importantly it is the home of GCE02C, View Carre’, probably one of the most unique and enjoyable caches in the country as evidence by its 441 favorite points to date.
So what has all this to do with a cache in Benicia, CA?
Well, I’ll tell you.
Nothing whatsoever.
We simply wanted to place a cache that was Big and Easy to find. So we did. It’s possible that it is simply too Big and too Easy for this spot, but time will tell. In any case, be stealthy. We will start it off with several Travel Bugs, hopefully it can serve as a relay place for more in the future. Also we will include some of our favorite swag from previous caches, so it should be a family-friendly cache as long as the trading rule is followed.
Waiting for First to Find: An official FTF certificate and a geocaching world marble!
