A bold cache in the middle of town. This is a difficult cache due to it's location. It is in muggle central Mt Isa. It will only survive if it is treated with the utmost respect. You will have to be conspicuous to retrieve it. Either take your clipboard & dayglo vest & look like you are there with a purpose, wait until all the muggles have gone home or leave it for another trip.
In Feb 1923 Campbell Miles made a landmark discovery here at Mt Isa.
His discovery allowed him to name a town and saw the formation of Mt Isa Mines Ltd (MIM) and the growth of the town from a prospectors field in the early 1900's to the massive enterprise that it is today.
While it may have been discovered in time, it is fair to say that the town & the mine that you can see from this site owe their gratitude to Campbell Miles for what is here today.
They have paid that debt in full. The Outback at Isa centre has sections of display devoted to the man who made Mt Isa, and his ashes are here at the cache site making this his final resting place.
The cache is a small Sistema and is in an extremely public location, reflected by the DoD. It will survive if treated as all caches in public areas should be treated. IF YOU DON'T THINK YOU CAN COMPLETE THE FIND UNOBSERVED PLEASE LEAVE IT FOR LATER, OR LEAVE IT FOR ANOTHER TRIP.
