From NM 14 and Sandia Park area, take 536 Sandia Crest Road until you get to the turn off for 165. Follow 165 until you get to the overlook and cache. Caution, this is a dirt mountain road. It can sometimes be bumpy in areas depending on how frequently it's maintained. Most cars will have no problem making the drive, but I'd recommend an SUV type vehicle. Curves are sometimes sharp and road is narrow in places. But it's worth the drive and very beautiful. Enjoy the many hiking trails and stream that parallels the road in many areas. If you care to venture further past the cache location, the road will take you all the way to Placitas where it will connect with I25. It takes about an hour. The road will be shut for the winter starting November 1st.
