Tribute to Ra Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dwyers5: Checked the area today and it is still under construction. More importantly, the statues and obelisk have been removed. I'm archiving this and if the statues return I will set something new up. Thanks to all who found this cache....

Geocache Description:

Cache is not at the above coordinates, but you must go there to solve the puzzle! The ancient Egyptians worshipped the sun god Ra for over a thousand years. The pyramid and the obelisk were both used extensively as symbols of Ra, since they resembled frozen rays of sunlight and were reminiscent of the ascent to the heavens. Interestingly, the masons also made extensive use of the obelisk and in many old cemeteries, masons used these structures as tombstones. One of the most famous obelisks in America is, of course, the Washington Monument and when the reflecting pool is working, the image is truly spectacular. The posted coordinates take you to another very cool obelisk/reflecting pool right here in sunny San Diego. This is the courtyard for Amylin Pharmaceuticals and when I saw this place, I thought it would be a cool spot for a cache. I talked to the security people and everything was ok, but I decided to do this as a puzzle cache so that visitors to the area would do more looking and less touching. So, get out and look around and enjoy the rather surprising objects in the area. The actual cache is a little over a mile away, with the coordinates as follows: 32 FS.EPS 117 PP.4E7 Solving the puzzle should not be difficult. The keys for the solution are in plain sight near the posted coordinates. Access to the courtyard (and the actual cache)is available 24/7 but you are very likely to get stopped by security at night. I recommend visiting the courtyard area during “normal” hours (ie, daylight or early evening). Have fun and good luck! Congrats to Kite and Hawkeye for the quick FTF!
