Geocache Description:

Small Rural pioneer cemetery in Howard CO.

This is Pete's Run Cemetery, a small rural cemetery.
Please no NIGHT caching. There are said to be 156 graves, but there are no nearly that many headstones.

History: Pete’s Run Cemetery is named after the creek that runs to the east side of the cemetery. It is said that the cemetery is close to Indian Cemetery. Nearby, Peter Cornstalk, a prominent Indian chief who died north of Burlington in 1838, was buried. William Smith and others were hired to take his body to Kokomo for burial. They had to take it in a wagon. To cut a road through the forest proved too difficult a task for them. When they reached a point where the trail crossed a stream on the north side of Wildcat, now in Ervin Township, they buried him there. The stream took the name Pete’s Run.
