The Buck Creek campground has been closed to motor traffic for about seven years. If you’re willing to pack it in on foot the Suiattle River provides a scenic back drop to the Buck Creek campground where the camp sites, bathrooms, and garbage cans are still maintained.
Buck Creek (bc) series is in a beautiful forest land with a variety of cache sizes. Some caches have coordinates that are needed to reach the Big Rock Candy Mountain puzzle final. Caches bc -13 through bc 4 are P&Gs. After that you’ll have to either hike, bike, or possibly head in on horseback. Most caches are less than 20 feet from the road. Be aware the road has "surface irregularities", but most of the hiking is on a 3-mile long (one way) railroad grade path that follows the river.
You will be in nature with all kinds of possibilities for weather, mosquitoes, flies, gnats, bears, squirrels, stinging nettles, devils club, animal droppings, critters and plants of all sorts. You may even encounter the highly unpredictable fellow cacher! You and you alone are responsible for your own actions, risks, reactions, and preparedness.
Remember to write the coords for the puzzle cache when you find them and as always bring your own pen.
Some things to remember when doing this series:
• Make sure you have water.
• Most of the road isn't busy.
• We had no cell phone coverage; your results may vary…
• Make sure you have enough gas, although there is gas in Darrington.
• Please replace caches exactly the way they were found.
