Geocache Description:

A cache in The gorge of Havga.

The gorge of Havga is an amazing gorge of rare natural beauty and it is the way where the water from Katharo plateau comes to Lassithi plateau.

It is 3-4km long and in some points it’s side walls rise almost vertical and very high. The landscape in the gorge is really very beautiful. In Havga hundred species of animals and birds are living and it is accessible until the point “Mavros Kolimpos” which someone will recognize easy due the all-round stone which stands at the bottom of the gorge.

To arrive at the parking place you have to be in the village of Agios Konstantinos, from there you follow the signs to Havgas gorge. As you enter the gorge you have to pass a door which is closed for the goats. The path is very clear and good signed. At the given waypoint you find two roads, the right leads you to Timios Stavros, you take the left. The path is clear for a few hundred meters more. But from a point and after you find yourself at a rocky environment and you have to find your way. The last meters are really difficult and you need to have a clear eye to find the best way to climb. Our daughter manages it with some help but it isn’t recommended for kids.

The cache is just before the small black pond of “Mavros Kolimbos”. The accuracy is very bad so have a look at the pictures and the hint.
