This little park and grab is located just off of Route 81 at the
entrance of the River Park campground. While there are fees for
camping and day use, it is not necessary to enter the Campground to
find the cache.
If you do go into the Campground, you will not be disappointed.
This spot along the Nolichucky is one of the most well known and
well used. Here you will find a short series of rapids where
everyone from daring tubers to white water kayakers gather for
challenging the rapids. River rescue training classes are sometimes
observed as well as the casual bather and avid camper.
The Rapids
Across the River from the Campground is a rather famous or
infamous rock called the "Big Rock". It just depends on who you
talk to for the famous or infamous title. While this is private
property, many daredevil swimmers are often seen jumping from the
Rock into the Nolichucky. Some have been rumored to have met their
death from the Rock side of the River.
