This cache is at kiosk providing a map of this new park in Monticello, UT. There are trails for hiking or biking but not for motorized travel. This is a fun park with gorgeous views but a sad history.
This park is at the site of a Vanadium/Uranium mill that operated from 1942 until 1960. Originally it processed Vanadium used in metal production in the war effort (WWII). After the war it was remodeled
to process Uranium for Atomic Bombs. The mill was dismantled in the 1960’s and the tailings were removed in the 1990’s. This park was built as a reminder of the history of the mill and as a symbol of its legacy: a legacy of cancer. You’ll want to visit the kiosk in the middle of the park for more info at these coords.
