Odd cache, part of a series.
This is a 16 cache circular walk series brought to you by combined effort from the father and son duo of Sickpit and Dragons 51. The walk is about 4 miles long with the added bonus of some hidden caches along the way. The series is rated using the official geocaching rating system. The path is mostly flat hard packed trail, some areas can become a little boggy underfoot so sensible footwear is advisable during wet weather. Most of the caches lie very close to the edge of the path a few are about 20’ in to help make them muggle proof.
Geocache placement made possible by kind permission of the forestry commission Wales.
Wentwood forms part of the largest block of ancient woodland within Wales which is now planted with conifers. It is found within an area that has a concentration of ancient woodlands that runs between the rivers Usk and Wye. It is over 1000 acres of continuous woodland that has been in the main planted with conifers.
And for birdwatchers Wentwood Forest, at the right times of the year, has Crossbill, Nightjar, Woodcock, Redpoll, Siskin and Goshawk can be seen in various locations, as can Hobby.
All cache clues are based upon if you were doing the series in the logical order from 1 to 16.
Good luck to everyone caching. I hope you enjoy the series as much as we enjoyed placing them. Photos always welcome.
