One of my kids favorite series of stories are the Sideways Stories from Wayside School written by Louis Sachar. These stories are an annual favorite and we have read them almost every year for the last 5 years. Follow the class from the 30th story of this crazy school as they take you through one fun situation to another. These stories are easy to read before bedtime as each chapter takes about 9 minutes to read.
Rockman's park is a great place to get away into nature while still being in town. In the winter you can cross country ski or snowshoe. In the summer and fall you can enjoy taking walks under the shade of the numerous trees. Beware spring, however, you may lose your shoes in the mud.
