Geocache Description:

Chehalis Western Trail Series #14

Please watch CWTS #1 (GC34KYB) for any overall updates to the trail series.

The Chehalis Western Trail runs 15.5 miles on the former Chehalis Western Railroad operated Weyerhaeuser Timber Company in 1989 and 1996. Thurston County Parks and Recreation Department has purchased and maintains the trail for the enjoyment of everyone in the community.

The line operated from 1926 through the mid-1980's and was used to haul timber from the Bald Hills to Puget Sound mills. The trail runs north-south through the heart of Thurston County and features access to the Puget Sound, Chambers Lake, the Deschutes River, wetlands, forests, prairies and other habitats and scenic views of Mt. Rainier. It also features a scenic overlook at Chambers Lake

This trail series will take you 5.2 miles from Chapman Bay to Martin Way. You may feel free to continue on down the trail 15.5 miles to the junction for Yelm Tenino trail to grab many more caches and chose your path.

Please be mindful of the environment as you do this series. All caches can be found within 25 feet of the trail. No motor vehicles of any kind are allowed on the trail.

Please be mindful of attributes for personal safety. Just as Olympia and Lacey parks close dusk to dawn, please do not use the trail at night. Motorized vehicles are not allowed on trail. Watch for muggles as trail may be highly used especially in good weather.

Enjoy your hunt!
