Geocache Description:

An Ammo Box with rocks and other goodies for swag. Take a rock if you like it, we've got more.

This cache is in Indian Trail State Forest. Named so for the portion of the White River Trail that passes thru.
The Conservation Department purchased much of the over-cut land for $2.50/acre from private landowners after the land had been cleared to fuel the furnace at Sligo. By the early 1900's almost all this land was cleared.
Starting during the depression, the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) brought young men to the area, many of whom stayed(1933 to 1946). There were CCC camps at Boss and Indian Trail. In the 13,503 acres (54.64 km2) of the Indian Trail Conservation Area, crews planted trees and built most of the area's 55 miles (89 km) of access roads, lakes, hatcheries, and several structures.
My goal with this cache is for geocachers to witness the regrowth of a forest. There is a good parking spot right by. The cache is a well hid ammo can.
During FIREARMS Deer Season there will be a lot of hunting traffic. This area is a popular camping spot for deer hunters. So cache accordingly!

Congratulations to awanderer for FTF!!!

Permission granted by the Missouri Department of Conservation, Thanks Mike! (visit link)
