At 2933 ft. Garrett County Airport has the highest runway in
altitude in the state of Maryland. From a small grass airstrip in
the 1940’s to a current modern day general aviation airport,
it is now easier to fly in and out of Garrett County, thanks to the
lengthening of the runway to 5,000 feet and the associated
improvements.
Garrett County Airport is a public-use general aviation airport
located between the small towns of Accident and McHenry, Maryland
with nearby Deep Creek Lake and its many resorts. The
airport’s primary use is for recreational and business
activities, providing resources such as a flight school and
sightseeing flights highlighting Deep Creek Lake.
