Geocache Description:

These are two caches placed in the Cooley Mountains near Slieve Foye on the Omeath side.
Since part of the fun of caching in the mountains is orienteering I'm giving very limited information on how to get there and leave the route chosen at the discretion of the finder. You can park at the carpark in Slieve Foye forest (waypoint added) Alternatively you can start from the Long Womans Grave (waypoint added) and do them in conjunction with the Táin Trail caches. Approaching from the Long Womans Grave side will involve a longer hike in the mountains. If you park in the carpark in Slieve Foye forest please used existing tracks/trails going through the trees onto the mountainside.
This is open mountain with little in the way of trails so please prepare accordingly for a day in the mountains. Be ready for substantial elevation gain, uneven terrain and some very wet areas
The rewards for your efforts are some of the best views available in the Cooley mountains. On your way you will enjoy panaromics of the full expanse of Carlingford Lough from Haulbowline Lighthouse and the port at Greenore to the east all the way to the town of Newry to the west. Other caches in the general area include one on the summit of Slieve Foye, the Táin Trail caches and several in Slieve Foye Forest.

The caches are both regular sized tablock boxes containing a log and pen (best to bring your own though just to be on the safe side) This one is in a small hole where the huge boulder on the left meets the even bigger boulder on the right. If you are approaching from above be aware you CANNOT safely get to GZ without going around the boulders and approaching from below. Can finder please take care to secure both the sealable bag and the cache box properly to protect the log from the elements

As with all caches these are undertaken at you own risk and finder discretion is recommended.

Most importantly, stay safe and have fun
