This cache is located on the summit of
Table Top Mountain (4,373 feet), located in the
BLM Table Top Wilderness Area in
southeastern Maricopa and
southwestern Pinal
Counties. The hike is about 7 miles round-trip with 2,000 feet
elevation gain.
To get to the trailhead, get off Exit 144 of I-8 and travel
south on Vekol Valley Road. Drive south on this road two miles to
the Vekol Ranch turnoff, then take the fork to the right and
continue south on the dirt-surfaced road for an additional 13.2
miles to the trailhead (N 32° 43.000' W 112° 09.527'). A
high-clearance vehicle is recommended, but 4WD is not
necessary.
There are two peaks, and the highest point of the mountain is on
the second of the two peaks. The cache is located on this higher
summit near the highest point of the mountain.
The cache box is a 30 caliber ammo can that contains an
assortment of small toys and other items. There is a camera in the
cache, so please take a picture of yourself and other members of
your team. If you take the last picture, please take the camera
back home with you and contact me as soon as possible. I will then
send you a PhotoWorks.com
mailing envelope with enclosed payment for photo developing, and
you can put the camera in the envelope and put it in the mail to
develop the film.
If you collect benchmarks, be sure to record this
benchmark
on the summit.
