These series are the counter-part to his Don't Fear the Reaper
series on the north side of I-70, all in Pottawatomie County.
One of the amazing things about cemeteries is that they stand
time. I like geocacing at these fascinating places because they
stand the time and the progress of man in amazing ways. On this
case this cemetery stands after the church that was built nearby
was demolished in 1907 as the sign says. The cemetery stands as a
mute testimony of all the effort of those early settlers and how
strong their faith and convictions were. Most of our towns and
cities are the results of their efforts. Right next to the entrance
there is the cornerstone of the church that once stood here.
This is another really cool old cemetery with lots of stories to
tell. I was fascinated by the fact of just walking among so many
people that once were here forging their lives and their families.
This little cache is hidden on a tree. It is a camo'd small
tupperware which very well protected from the elements in its
hideout. It is not visible. I would recommend you bring a helping
hand to retrieve the cache unless you have climbing skills. Yes, it
is up there. The cemetery has not have a curfew but please restrain
yourselves to go find after sunset or if anybody is having a
service or visiting those resting here.
