I have had an ammo can just burning a hole in my pocket, so I decided to place a new cache today. It's been awhile! I love this area--it's a nice area to hike, offroad, explore, and cool off. 4WD is needed to reach the cache area due to the deep sand. An ATV will get you closer, but there will be a very short hike at the end.
Take the 'exit' for Holly Trolley, then continue on just a little further down the narrow, small, canyon. If you have a full-size vehicle, you will probably have to park at the main trail, but if you have an ATV, you can probably park at 47.055 40.548 and walk the rest. It's not far. The coords were a little unstable in the canyon, so you may want to look at the spoiler pics. There is a short 'scramble' up to the cache, but hey, I'm a GIRL and it's not that bad! Watch out for your footing--it's rather crumbly--and there are lots of tiny cactus needles around the cache area so watch where you put your hands. There were TONS of mosquitos in the area, but don't worry! I think they should be full, after feeding on me today! Ugh! I have seen snakes in this wash many times, so be careful! Also, on the way back down from the cache, my tank top caught on a branch and there was almost a 'wardrobe malfunction'!
