Why "convergence," you may ask? First off, it's the next
to last event
where
the month, day and year figures
are all the same until the next century (the next and
last for this century will be 12/12/12). Secondly, it's a
huge MULTI-EVENT occasion coinciding
with hundreds of others across the globe... and it's right here in
YOUR own back yard. Most importantly, it also falls on
a VERY important day, Veteran's
Day. On this day, we honor all those who serve, and have
served, our country in the protection of the freedoms we enjoy so
much.
Many service members are gone anywhere from 90 days to an entire
year from their families and friends. Some never return.
They all do this to ensure we continue to have the freedoms
we enjoy so much in this country; from freedom of speech, freedom
to work where you like and freedom of movement to go wherever we
like and whenever we like. Veteran's Day is in their
honor.

So in short, it's
a CONVERGENCE of events
important to all of us for whatever reasons we may have. What
better reason to come together, meet fellow geocachers, share your
favorite dishes and enjoy a variety of games with your new best
friends! No need to drive WAAAAYYYY out
of your way simply because the closest event is 70 miles away, come
out and enjoy this one in your own back yard. ;)
This is going to be a pot-luck event, so bring your best dish with
enough to share and come out to meet your fellow cachers. If
you cannot bring a dish, please bring some form of refreshment or
another; non-alcoholic, mind you. The park's pavilion and
field are both reserved just for us, until you feel like going
home! Lots of room for parking, a covered pavilion, large field for
some fun and games, and even a couple caches in the area for those
who haven't discovered them yet or would like to introduce someone
to the experience of geocaching!
Since this is a local event with people new and old to geocaching,
please bring a
list of
your FAVORITE caches to share with
everyone. We have several games planned (Geocacher's
Challenge, GeoAccuracy Contest, Cacher's Bingo and Door Prizes), so
come out for a great time and a chance to win some cool
geoswag!
NOTE: The Geacacher's Challenge will be a team
event, so plan on teaming up with your best puzzler, searcher,
eagle-eye cache-buddies and see if you can take top honors in the
challenge. The Challenge will take a minimum of 30 minutes to
complete and has 5 caches (just for this event!) to find of various
types/difficulties.
ATTENTION: The "official" commemorative "11-11-11"
Geocaching "Emerald Coast" edition coin WILL be
available for purchase for $11.00, one per cacher, at this event.
At the end of the event, additional coins can be purchased if any
