Geocache Description:

This is a simple two stage multi on the east side of Goat Island to show you an old abandoned barge. The barge is not safe to climb on anymore, so we made a multi for it. The final is hidden about 350 feet SE from the barge.

The numbers on the barge are gone. So I am just giving them to you 2227.

This part of the island is now mostly rocky meadow and flat with a few unofficial campsites.
The rock of this side of Goat Island was mined to build the breakwater to La Conner.
In the winter large amounts of geese stay in the calm water between the boat channel and the breakwater. Log rafts are stored here as well.

Plan your trip according to the tides and nautical charts. Beware of sand bars North of the shipping channel and sticky mud around WPT1 .

This Deepzoom website is very helpful to plan your trip. It shows tides, currents and nautical charts.

The closest launch site is under the Rainbow Bridge in La Conner.

You can land your boat on Goat Island close to the first way point or on the beach on the South side of the breakwater. Both landing sites take you to the barge and the final location. At very low tides the bay dries out and the Southern approach is the better one.

Begin at the listed coordinates close to the South East corner of the barge.
Read the four big numbers on the side of the barge on the Southeast corner (hint: you don't have to get close or muddy). The numbers are abcd in the equation below.

The cache is hidden at:

--NO NEED TO CLIMB ON THE BARGE--
