Haydons Parks - Cannon Hill Common 1 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Southerntrekker: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not responded to recent logs I am archiving it.

The Geocache Maintenance guideline explains a CO's responsibility towards checking and maintaining the cache when problems are reported. Caches that have been archived for lack of maintenance will not be unarchived. This is explained in the Help Center.

Geocache Description:

The Wombles are obviously from Wimbledon Common but I thought I would show people other parks Merton has to be proud of, starting with the lesser known Common, Cannon Hill Common.

Placed with kind permission by the friends of cannon hill common.

The cache is wheelchair accessible.
The best place to park is Cannon Hill Lane, where street parking is free at all times, in some areas

Cannon Hill Common is located between the town centres Raynes Park and Morden in the ward of Cannon Hill in the south western corner of Merton. The Common is accessible from Parkway, Heath Drive and Cannon Hill Lane. The Common can be accessed on foot from Whatley Avenue, Cannon Hill Lane, Southway, Parkway and Heath Drive. Walkers can also get onto the Common via walkways from King George’s Playing Fields, Joseph Hood Recreation Ground, across the meadow from Parkway and along the grassed area adjacent to the roads. Cannon Hill Common covers 21 hectares of open space. It boasts mature woodland, which is over 140 years old and is home to a variety of plants and animals. Cannon Hill Common is a great place for walking, recreational fishing and angling, dog walking, bird watching and simply getting away from urban life and enjoying a small piece of countryside in the city. Find out more about Cannon Hill Common's history.

on Sunday 23rd October 2011 is an open day free for all to attend.

The cache is slightly larger than a 35mm cache.

It is accessible by wheelchair users but terrain can be soft under foot if we have had wet weather.
