Just a Cache (Latta Plantation Nature Preserve) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

NCreviewer: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Enjoy your hike, but be careful as you make the find. Trail is easy with roots along the way. Be careful where you step and don't forget to stop for a moment and take in the beauty of Mountain Island Lake and the Catawba River.
Contains only a log.
BYOP.

Accessed from the paved 0.25 mile picnic
loop trail, this easy, 0.5 mile loop follows the edge of a
peninsula along Mountain Island Lake. After passing through
a mature hardwood forest containing tulip poplars, oaks,
hickories, and sweetgum trees, the trail’s westernmost point
culminates under the canopy of several large water oaks.

The purpose the LPNP series of caches is to invite visitors to Latta Plantation Nature Preserve (& Latta Plantation Nature Center; first building on the right), show what Mecklenburg County Nature Preserves have to offer (Latta Equestrian Center, Carolina Raptor Center and Historic Latta Plantation), and promote the great sport of geocaching.

PARK IN THE MAIN WATERFRONT PARKING LOT, 1.5 MILES FROM ENTRANCE GATE.
