Swimmininnimbin
This cache is hidden at a pretty little spot on the Goolmangar
Creek. It's one of the small streams that snake their way around
the landscape in Nimbin. It's a perfect spot for a splash in the
crisp water on a warm day, or just sit and listen to the stream
gurgle past the old bridge that was destroyed in floodwaters years
ago. Keep an eye out for Platypus too! Not a good idea to enter the
water after heavy rainfall or in flooding though.
The spot is accessed by heading west on Thorburn St and following
it up to the gates of the backpackers accommodation. Plenty of
parking here and a track will lead you down to the creek where the
old bridge used to cross. The cache is located 15m or so from the
river. GPS signal may be weak as there is a pretty dense tree
canopy it needs to fight through before it gets to your receiver.
The clue will reveal all, and a spoiler pic has been attached if
you want a fast find! Once you’ve found the cache, have a
look around but don’t forget to check out the creek on the
southern side of the new bridge. It's lovely over there and a
excellent spot to paddle in shallower water.
Keep an eye on the kids around GZ – be aware that there is
wire lying around near the cache that is difficult to see as it
blends well with the leaf litter. Please hide the cache in
the same orientation in which you found it so it doesn’t fall
too far into its hiding spot. The cache is a small lock and
lock container that has a logbook, pencil and stash note - along
with plenty of swaps. Hope you enjoy this peaceful little place,
and that it's warm enough to go swimmininnimbin!
